The Kid and Karlson (Junior and Karlson). 1968. 18 min.

A Soviet cult cartoon, so untypical for a Western viewer, especially, a little one. The film is based on the first part of the trilogy of the same name by Astrid Lindgren.

A boy named Malysh ("A Little One") suffers from solitude being the youngest of the three children in a Swedish family. The acute sense of solitude makes him desperately want a dog, but before he gets one, he "invents" a friend - the very Karlson who lives upon the roof. So typical for the Russian culture spirit of mischief, which is, actually, never punished, and the notion that relative welfare not necessarily means happiness made the book by Astrid Lindgren and its TV adaptations tremendously popular in the Soviet Union and nowadays Russia and vice versa - somewhat alienated to the Western reader and viewer. However, both the book and the cartoon are truly universal - entertaining and funny for the children and thought-provoking and somewhat sad for grownups.

Karlson Returns. 1970. 19 min.

In the continuation of the animation film "The Kid and Karlson" in the house of the Kid appears "moccasin" Froken Bock. She becomes at once the sovereign owner of the apartment. The Kid is not happy with the eternal bans of Froeken Bock and decides to take revenge on her. Karlson turned out to be charming, energetic, mobile, with a hilarious-characteristic voice.

Winnie-the-Pooh. 1969. 10 min.

Long ago, it seems, last Friday, lived in one country a bear cub under the name of Winnie the Pooh. And why under the name? Because, above his door was the inscription: "Winnie the Pooh," and he lived under it. Once Winnie the Pooh went to the forest to have a little refreshment - he always was not averse to refreshment. In addition, he was a poet and in his spare time composed poems and even songs.

Winnie-the-Pooh Pays a Visit. 1970. 10 min.
