Oliviero De Fabritiis

Oliviero De Fabritiis (13 June 1902 - 12 August 1982) was an Italian conductor and composer.

A pupil of the composers Licinio Refice and Giacomo Setaccioli, he made his debut when he was only eighteen years old at the Teatro Adriano in Rome.
He was appointed resident conductor of the Rome Opera, then of the Fenice in Venice and, from 1943, the Rome Opera again. With Beniamino Gigli and Toti Dal Monte he created the now famous opera season of the Terme di Caracalla in 1938.
Known mainly as an opera conductor, in 1947 he was invited to the United States for the first time and from then on conducted in all the great opera houses in the world, leaving us unforgettable gramophone recordings.
