Carlo Galeffi

Carlo Galeffi (Malamocco, Venice, 1882 - Rome, 1961) - baritone.

His 1907 debut in La Favorita marked the beginning of a dazzling career which saw him sing in all the great opera houses in the world in a career spanning half a century.
He was cast at La Scala in 1913 and stayed there for no fewer than 17 seasons singing in a very wide repertoire. His vocal quality, together with crystal clear diction and a very soft tone made him one of the foremost baritones in Verdi operas (Nabucco, Don Carlo, Simon Boccanegra, Ernani, Rigoletto, Luisa Miller, Ballo in maschera).
He sang in the first performances of Il Tabarro and Gianni Schicchi by Puccini and of Isabeau and Parisina by Mascagni.
