Родился в Новосибирске. Окончил Театральное училище имени Б. В. Щукина (1960). С 1960 — актер театра им. Ленинского комсомола в Москве, с 1963 — актер Театра-студии киноактера. В кино дебютировал в 1958 году. Сегодня фильмов с участием актера - более 150.
Заслуженный артист РСФСР (1984).
