Родился в Одессе. Учился в Одесском театральном училище (1943-1946). Окончил Московское городское театральное училище (1950), ГИТИС (1958). В 1950-1959 — актер академического театра им. В. Маяковского, в 1960-1992 — Театра-студии киноактера, в 1992-1993 — актер Малого театра. Заслуженный артист РСФСР (1984).
