Валерий Фрид
Родился в Томске. В 1940 поступил на сценарный факультет ВГИКа. В 1944, сдав досрочно экзамены по теоретическому курсу, ушел добровольцем в Красную Армию. В 1944 году, вместе с Юлием Дунским, был незаконно репрессирован (десять лет лагерей, бухгалтерская работа в Инте). Реабилитирован.Диплом защитил много лет спустя (1957). Совместно с Ю.Т.Дунским написал около 30-ти киносценариев. В 1987 году с кинодраматургами В.Черныхом и Э.Володарским на киностудии "Мосфильм" создал студию "Слово", был главным редактором этой студии.
В 1997 вышла автобиографическая книга "58 с половиной"
Заслуженный деятель искусств РСФСР.
