The film is based on the motives of Aleksandr Pushkin’s "Little Tragedies" ('The Covetous Knight', 'The Stone Guest', 'Mozart and Salieri', 'Feast During the Time of Plague'), where the most universal and eternal conflicts receive a particular interpretation: things, ideas and people clash. It is a “mad” world where everything is put to test: the immobile can move, love triumphs over death, fine aesthetic senses lead to murder, and feasts celebrate death.
