Based on Aleksandr Khmelik's play, this film is a graduating work of a number of students of famous Michail Romm at VGIK (State Institute of Culture). Many of those graduates had become famous in the movie industry. Oleg Vidov, who debuted here, is among them. Also, this graduating project was recognized as one of the best films of the early 1960s.
