The precisely depicted atmosphere of horse races and a whole world of bizarre, touching, idiosyncratic characters are unveiled in one of the best films directed by Kira Muratova, which became classics of the European cinematography. After its premiere in February 1994, “Passions” have received critic and public acclaim at many European film festivals. The film was awarded with Jury Prize and Critics Prize at Kinotavr (Russia), and with two Nikas (Russian Cinema Academy Prize) – “for the best director” and “as the best of the year”.
